biography

 

Aliya Bonar is a multi-disciplinary artist and community organizer. Her work explores costume and dress-up, performance and alter-egos, PowerSuits and Anti-PowerSuits, and usually involves cooking a lot of food for a lot of people in very short amounts of time.

Aliya is a member of the Flux Factory art collective in Queens NYC creating experimental collaborative art and community events ; she’s also a Project Manager at Thinx bringing radical solutions for menstruation and incontinence to market.

Aliya’s work has been exhibited internationally: the ARoS Museum in Aarhus, Denmark; chashama gallery during New York Fashion Week; Every Woman Biennial in New York, NY; Flux Factory in New York, NY; The Wassaic Project in Wassaic, NY; Shared Space Studio in Grand Rapids, MI; and at every Sandwich Club Summit to date. Aliya lives in Queens, New York.
